Yay, I finally got a job today! Well, I technically got it yesterday, but I got the formal invitation today. I'm going to be working for Career Builder doing internal technical support, getting about the same amount of money that I was getting at State Farm. *squee!*

This also means that I can finally relax here... since I moved to Chicago, I've been holding my breath. I didn't want to get too used to it, didn't want to believe that I actually live here. I didn't want to get my hopes up and then end up having to move back in with my parents. But now, I have a real job (enough to pay rent, whether Elaine finds one right away or not) and I can do fun things like go out to the club or go to derby bouts or even just buy Soul Calibur IV when it comes out. :)

Don't get me wrong, though, we've been having fun since we got here. There's a ton of free things to do here. We've gone to Millenium Park more than a couple of times, just to sit on the Great Lawn and listen to the music they play over the speakers (once we went for a free orchestral concert) and play games and have a picnic. It's also always fun to see Cloud Gate and the fountains while we're there... but I must have a billion pictures of them by now. I will never get tired of the skyline, either. But yes, back to free things. We've meandered around Navy Pier, seen a free movie (Transformers) at a park nearby that they showed on a giant projector, and we've been to the Lincoln Park Zoo three times already in the two months we've been here. I'll eventually elaborate on each of these awesome attractions individually, but the point is that you don't really have to have tons of money in order to enjoy yourself in Chicago. The museums even have free days (though we haven't been just yet) every week, and for me it's entertaining to just walk around downtown near the Sears Tower or Michigan Ave.

I know I'm sucking at posting pictures on Myspace, but I promise I will get to that shortly. Part of it was the aforementioned feeling of not wanting to get too comfortable... but since I have a job now, that's not really an issue. I will find time this evening to post them if I can! And for the LJ folk, I shall either post some in a cut or put up direct links to the Myspace ones. :)

As for other things going on in my life... LISA'S COMING TO VISIT THIS WEEKEND OMFGSQUEE!!!!!!111!!!!1!!1! Her and Mr. Jeremy are going to be crashing at my apartment, since it's way cheaper than a hotel and we have both a futon and a spare twin bed. I hope poor Jeremy doesn't die from the cats, but we're doing lots of cleaning before then, so it shouldn't be too bad. They're coming up for Wizard World this weekend, which I can actually afford to go to now! It shall be a great weekend, especially with Pridefest on Sunday. They can't stay for Pride, but Christina will be down there, and I'm sure it'll be way bigger than the one in Michigan, since it's in Boystown on Halsted, where they're so proud that the lightposts have rainbows on them year-round. :)

There's more stuff I've forgotten to mention, I'm sure, but Miss Elaine needs help cleaning so that we can make this place presentable for company tomorrow so I should go help.

May. 21st, 2008 @ 02:12 pm I'M VISITING HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Emotion:: excitedexcited
Yep, you read that right. I'm going to be in Michigan from May 31st to June 8th. If you love me, you should come see me!!!!!!!! I'm not super sure on plans yet... I may be going to City Club that first Saturday, but I might stay home and hang out with the 'rents. Sunday is PRIDEFEST! So if you're gay, you should go. :)

After that, I have no idea. I'd like to go to Necto, but I won't have a vehicle to drive while I'm there. So if anyone's going and feels like having me and my g/f tag along, that would be awesome! Thursday is my Cole's birthday, so I shall be hanging out with her and whatnots... I have to see Lisa and the baby sometime in there (preferably more than once!) as well. That weekend, we're probably going to City Club Friday and Saturday. And then I'm leaving again on Sunday. SO. If you love me a lot and miss me and haven't seen me for a year (which applies to most of you!) you should comment me and arrange time to hang out! Because I miss everyone tons.

It's going to feel so good to be back home.... :D

And, I'm 23! Which is my favorite number! So hopefully that means that this year will be as awesome as I think it will be. :D

I'm gonna go have some sushi and buy some clothes and then go out to the club, k? K. *grins*

Okay, random... I swear I'll have actual things to update soon, but I'm at work and I'm just curious...

Does anyone know, offhand, of a good website where I could get a comparison of the different opinions Obama and Hillary have on issues? Primaries here are coming up soon and I still have no idea who to vote for.

Threw you the obvious
And you flew with it on your back
A name in your recollection
Down among a million same
Difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed
And passed over
But I look right through
See you naked but oblivious
But you don't see me

But I threw you the obvious
Just to see if there's more behind
The eyes of a fallen angel
Eyes of a tragedy
Here I am expecting just a little bit too much from the wounded
But I see, see through it all
See through
See you

Cause I threw you the obvious
To see what occurs behind
The eyes of a fallen angel
Eyes of a tragedy
Oh well
Oh well
Apparently nothing
Apparently nothing at all

You don't, you don't, you don't see me
You don't see me at all

Thing 1:
I have a new job. I start this new job next Thursday. I shall be getting $12/hr to help people at the Verizon corporate offices with their computer problems. This makes me happy. Verizon is a really large company, and since I'm officially working FOR them, not only will I have awesome benefits but it will also look great on my resume.

Thing 2:
I'm um... staying in Texas. I know that for awhile there was talk of me moving home, but things have changed and I'm staying for awhile. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I do love you all tons and miss you immensely, but this job is a great opportunity and if/when I do move home I'd like to have more money saved up.

Thing 3:
I am going to be rather MIA over the weekend because I'm going to be in Chicago visiting mah Courtney. We're going to TWO (YES, TWO!!!!!!) Tori Amos concerts, as well as visiting the science museum and other random assorted wonderfulness. I shall make an update when I get back.

Thing 4:
I may also be coming home nearer to the holidays, but I'm not quite sure about that yet. It depends on whether or not I'm able to get time off of work at my new job. If I can, then I will most definitely do whatever possible to be home for Christmas. It'll be sad and lonely here if I'm alone for the holidays... :(

Thing 5:
Well, there's lots of other random little things, but I can't think of all of them right now. I hope everyone's doing well, and I'm sorry if I've been more than a little difficult to get ahold of lately. Things have been super crazy and in a giant state of upheaval, but I think I'm finally finding my footing. Outlook = good.

The fact that I recognize over half of these makes me a happy person. :)

I tried to count all of the ones I had at least heard of, and I ended up somewhere in the vicinity of 60. Sad, isn't it?

Is it weird that I found that horribly depressing? I swear, I almost cried. Maybe it's the idea of contemplating what you'd want the last thing you ever eat to be... and how sad that is. Meh.
